Open a terminal (<ctl><alt><t>)
Enter:
sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/mailto.sh
When the edit opens; cut'n'paste:

#!/bin/bash
sylpheed --compose "$1"
sylpheed --compose "$1"
Save and close the file.
Enter:
sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/mailto.sh
to make the file executable.
In your web browser (Firefox) that is already open go to
Edit> Preferences
Select <Applications>

Change the "mailto" setting to "Use other..."

Close....and compose emails to any mailto: link you wish with just a click.
