Thanks for your clarifications Markus.
We need Navigatrix is 32 bits to run on older and new machines, so according to the information we have....
- Running Navigatrix on 32 and 64 bits non-UEFI machines: Single boot: OK.
Dual boot: Ok.
- Running Navigatrix on 32 bits UEFI-legacy capable machines:Single boot: set UEFI-legacy mode and secure boot off.
Dual boot: Only possible If the other systems of your computer are installed in secure boot off (because ubuntu 32 bits in not secure boot on capable) and are installed in UEFI-legacy mode. If the other systems of your computer are installed in UEFI mode then
convert your installed Ubuntu in UEFI mode (not easy for linux beginners).
- Running Navigatrix on 32 bits UEFI-only firmware (not UEFI-legacy) capable machines (there are few cases):Single boot: Not possible.
Dual boot: Not possible.
- Running Navigatrix on 64 bits UEFI-legacy capable machines:Single boot: set UEFI-legacy mode and secure boot off.
Dual boot: only possible if the other systems of your computer are installed in secure boot off and UEFI-legacy (highly unlikely)
- Running Navigatrix on 64 bits UEFI-only firmware (not UEFI-legacy) capable machines (does this exist? is it the future?):Single boot: Not possible.
Dual boot: Not possible.
So... in order to simplify the message to the user, in my opinion we should say "Navigatrix runs ok on old computers in single and dual boot but only run in single mode on new computers setting UEFI-legacy and secure boot off."
Am I right?
editing: would be this rule true in all cases? running Navigatrix from DVD, USB, HDD.
