Bought a new sandisk 16Gb yesterday...., shame, almighty Microsoft ordered all new USB sticks to log in as a Drive, not as a removable. Meaning No Nx installation with the Disc creator. Tried everything.
Any ideas somebody?
:)

cheers

Try looking at: http://navigatrix.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3005.

I think it's a U3 problem.

Thanx Moe,

forum tells me this topic doesn't exist :?
Tomorrow we'll be on the boat again to work on the Pactor.
The new stick was to be a reference to compare.
I also wanted to use that one only on the toughbook to rule out any interference it might have with the Mac.

cheers,

Atmo :)

Tanks a lot Moe,

can't change the stick to flash drive. It stays as E disk.
Why is it that I can't install on E?
I think it would have been important not to format the drive, because now the U3 stuff doesn't work on the stick...
Hope I have more luck with the next stick....
Would there be a way to get the installer to accept the drive?

cheers,

Atmo

Look into, I think Windows calls it, "Computer Management" (I'm assuming Windows, but don't know which permutation.)

Use the Windows tools to delete any "Volume" on the stick. There might be more than one.

Reformat it to FAT32. You might also mark it as "Active"....I don't know. I don't use Windows and I am not familiar with how things work there.

There's also http://www.partition-tool.com/resource/ ... tition.htm , but it maybe overkill for tools already in the Windows stable...I just don't know and I've nothing to test.

on windows this works for me, right click comand box and run as administrator
Code:
 C: windows\system32([color=#0000FF]what youll see[/color])
C: CD \ (brings you to root of C:, no lets get it done.)
C: diskpart  list disk ([color=#FF0000]WARNING MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH IS FLASH DRIVE!![/color])
Select disk 2
clean
format F: filesystem=fat32 /Q

so, we got into a command line as admin and using windows tool DISKPART found our drive and wiped all inf , then formated it so we can install linux or other os.
my favirote for ease of use is http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ and more info on M/S comands can allways be found by typing comand then" /?". more on diskpart http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766465(v=ws.10).aspx Gotta love tech net for windows and google for linux!
