In the lower left of every post is a "Profile" button of the author of that post.

I'm not sure how you would find the profile of someone who has not poked the head above water and never posted.

And to modify it? Password, for example?

It doesn't look like it's possible to change a password by ourselves.

The current process is to email the powers that be and they will do it for you. I don't understand the rationale except that it might have been the default setting.

...but then again I don't know what the security issue would be that someone would need to change his/her password.

It might be something to consider to save everyone a step and keep a low hierarchy.
