Post subject:  Conversion of Garmin .ADM track file

Hi, all!

I am looking for a tool to convert the new .adm track formats from my Garmin 421, so I could see those tracks in my OPNcpn.
This .adm files does not seem to be viewable in text-mode.
Is there a tool in Navigatrix to convert this files?

Thank you!

That's the problem with proprietary formats and the companies that use them. They're like methadone clinics; they don't want you dead; they just want you to keep coming back to the trough.

The Navigatrix tool, gpsbabel, can translate many formats from one to another including many Garmin formats
  1. G7ToWin data files (.g7t)
  2. Garmin 301 Custom position and heartrate
  3. Garmin Logbook XML
  4. Garmin MapSource - gdb
  5. Garmin MapSource - mps
  6. Garmin MapSource - txt (tab delimited)
  7. Garmin PCX5
  8. Garmin POI database
  9. Garmin Points of Interest (.gpi)
  10. Garmin serial-USB protocol
  11. Garmin Training Center (.tcx)
The Garmin format .adm is not one of them.

Some one suggested "seaclear", which is in Navigatrix, but I've not looked yet. Another suggested exporting from Garmin software to another format...one that could be translated with gpsbabel.

I'm about to test a Windows app called GPS Utility that claims to do adm. I'll let you know what I find out.

I couldn't see that seaclear could handle the job.

GPS Utility runs under Wine in Navigatrix. It reads .adm (I guess, can't test.) You got nothing to loose but 15 minutes. http://www.gpsu.co.uk/download.html

Open gpsu517setup.exe with a right click and Wine Windows Program Loader.
After it's installed the handy launch is Menu> Wine> Programs...down the list.

Good luck.

Wonderful. Tried it with the software, in wine and it does work. Thank you, Moe!
