I'm thinking about picking up a Simrad 3G radar. It uses a MFD for its control head. Is there a way use Navigatrix or a Linux program to control the radar? The radar supports an app for wireless control but says it has to be used with the MFD.
Thanks,
Tim

What's a MFD?(yeah, I understand Multi Function Display); how does it work?; what do you expect it to do? What does Simrad say it will do? How does it connect to the computer? etc.. etc...

And how does the Simrad Radar connect to the Display and in which format does it send data from the Simrad to the Display ? If it sends NMEA data you may connect it over a serial port to the Navigatrix and then use OpenCPN as a display.
