Hi,
Where/how can I see what's inside my notebook?
i.e., which chipset, which devices, which file system (ntfs/fat, etc.) so I can search for drivers?

Package: Hardware Drivers doesn't work, I just get an error that couldn't download anything...

And the Partition Editor shows only
sda1: ntfs
sda2: extended (is this the Navigatrix part?)
--- and then sda6 + 5: file system unknown.

What does that mean?

The quick answer is:
Code:
hwinfo --short
or
Code:
sudo lshw -short
from the terminal, depending on the nature of the question. The firt returns a short description of hardware info. The latter lists hardware in the short form.

Is there something you're looking for...or just general hardware info?

Specific, and very detailed, information can be extracted with the right question (command).

Four example, lscpu for cpu info

lsusb for gizmos attached via USB; lsusb -v for detailed info...etc..

Output can also be 'filtered' so you don't have to wade through the deluge.
