I am experiencing problems usig skype. Someone told me that I can not connect, because i am using the old version of skype (4.2)
When I go to the Synaptic, it show the latest version as 4.2, but on trhe skype website it says 4.3. How can I update my skype? There seems to be no option for upload, only for removal or complete removal...

You are probably right, but version 4.2 seems to be not working anymore. Didn't work in Navigatrix and in Ubuntu 12.04 either.

Yep, had to replace the First Mate's version in Lubuntu.

Small addendum to the instructions above... I had to manually remove skype and skype-bin before dpkg would allow me to install the new version:

And then, as per Moe's instructions,

The new version did indeed fix the "Skype can't connect" problem; after a short "brought to you by your favorite intelligence agency" splash screen it connects without any hiccups.

For me a simple sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade did the trick.
