I'm sure Moe, David, or someone else will have a simple explanation. This is the older version 0.4 which I use on my Panasonic Toughbook CF-28, just read this link and scroll down to the download:
http://navigatrix.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=643
Please let everyone know how you make out with your situation.
Best regards, Cleve

My simple explanation is I don't understand.

Skype is pre-installed.

I downloaded the Dropbox Installation Package and installed it without a hiccup.

I don't have a Dropbox account so I didn't go any further.

I went further and had problems with Dropbox.

The word I'm hearing is the Dropbox package has a problem talking to a regular system file (libglib).

If you download http://www.getdropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86

Open a terminal (<ctrl><t>) and enter:
Code:
tar -xf Downloads/dropbox*.gz
Code:
.dropbox-dist/dropboxd &
That will get you going. We can work on making it organised, easy, and pretty later.

I'll stick my neck out and say the archive that you would have unpacked should be in another location.
Code:
sudo mv .dropbox-dist/ /opt/dropbox-dist
I'll also stick out my neck and say that it shouldn't be autostarted like they want you to set it up...for convenience. But there is no (easy) choice.

Every time you boot it will start. It places the application in your autostart queue. (~/.config/autostart/dropbox.desktop)

However, by placing a menu entry in Internet you will have the ability to launch the application after you have turned it off.
Code:
gksudo medit /usr/share/applications/dropbox.desktop
and paste in
Code:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Dropbox
GenericName=File Synchronizer
Comment=Sync your files across computers and to the web
Exec=/opt/dropbox-dist/dropboxd
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=/opt/dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86-3.0.4/images/hicolor/16x16/status/dropboxstatus-logo.png
Categories=Network;FileTransfer;
StartupNotify=false
Save and exit. The menu entry appears Menu> Internet> Dropbox

Hi Moe and others

I copy you my last mail to Dropbox/support few minutes ago, once solved.

**************
Hi Vincent again....
I found
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=411681
and follow this steps and now it works fine.
It seems to be a problem with the new version and the capacities of the CPU Athlon 900. (mmx/sse2 ?)
Thanks again and I hope you'll find the appropriate solution: Lubuntu is for older hard and me and many others do not want to migrate to Gdrive.
**************

its true that Skype is pre-installed, and works fine from de USB....but just 25 minutes, then cracks.
When installed to HD never works.
I'll try to find if the problem is alike

Best Regards

Good. Hardware differences weren't even on my list of probable causes.

Skype breaking is another matter as well. I'll blame it on NSA backdoors inserted by Skype's new owners....but I have no idea, and it probably isn't that either.
