I have ordered an ICOM 801 radio and it can (acording to the manual) output DSC messages to a centronics parallel printer. I was wondering if there is a neat and easy way to capture this in a file. Perhaps using a bidirectional parallel to USB converter in which case presumably it is just the same as logging data from a serial USB port. I am prepared to knock up some scripts in python if it comes to it but I thought people might have thought this through already.

I have a small thermal printer with a USB interface if I did actually want to print it paper rather than just logging in a file.
