Can someone please explain how to install the G-Star drivers for GPS USB receiver?

They should already be installed. GPSes should work "out of the box".

I take it your gps is not working.

After you have booted the machine (without the gps plugged in), open a terminal either by using Menu> Accessories> Terminal Emulator, or hitting three keys, <ctrl><alt><t> at the same time.

Plug in your gps.

Highlight, copy/paste the output of the last 20 lines from your log file (dmesg) that appear in the terminal to your next post.

Thanks for reply, but its now working! Just tried other USB ports and one worked;-)

This is further proof machines hate us, and will do things to mess with our minds.

Out of curiosity you could unplug the gps from the working socket....wait 10 seconds, and then plug it into the USB socket that was misbehaving.

Does it still work?

If it doesn't, when you move it back (waiting 10 seconds for the gremlins to clear), does it start working again?
