rebooted again without it pluged in and this is the tail below is what was in the xgps line but no gps info workiing

The trick is not to get ahead of yourself.

If you believe this guy http://mattventura.net/2014/06/15/using-the-sierra-mc5725s-gps-on-linux/The other problem is just flipping switches. While an effect technique, you need to remember the state your in and how that fits into the testing/diagnostic plan.

The current state is

• unblacklisted garmin_gps module in two places
• either with gpsd.rules or without (preference is toward having the rule (no #))
• a /etc/default/gpsd that looks like

• the gps has a clear view and has been plugged in for at least 15 minutes (to ensure no cold start issues and unknowns with gps memory and battery

If you run xgps, or cgps, from the/another terminal what happens?

Does cgps timeout and quit? Does xgps show anything except n/a?...particularly between the 'skyview' and the 'gps data' there is a 'response box' that give information on what's going on.

I just sawYou have

• the path (/dev/ttyUSB0) and
• you have a time ('activated":"2016-08-29T03:19:34.268Z").

You also have a gps that doesn't

• have a clear view, or
• doesn't have the current almanac to calculate satellite locations

Set it by a window and let it grind away for a bit. It might be something else, but the next test is time.
