The new bootstrap or the new iso do not work on my boat computer. It stops pretty fast saying attempt to kill init. error 0x0...07
return to txt console. Which means black screen and nothing happening.

I will be vary happy if this might work on my asus Eee PC seashell with AMD dual processors.

By the way exactly the same thing happens on my backup computer which is an Asus One with intel cpu and chipset.

And yes I installed the new boot strapper with the name boot usb.

Downloading 2gb here in american samoa is not so funny and takes 48 hours or more at the same time all the other sailors in the bay complains that I use all the bandwidth. SO if there is another solution please ....

Oh yes, we will be very happy if this might work just with airmail, Firefox and open cpn. All functions like ssb, gps and ais. With easy upgrades.

Assuming you are using Windows.

Check the integrity of you ISO file with this free download

http://www.winmd5.com/download/winmd5free.zip

Install the application and check. The number it returns should match MD5: 7f4ebe2718ea9dc2f8051ee911fc63c9 (The same MD5 number on the Downloads page.)

If you're using some version of Linux, or your copy of Navigatrix 0.4, you should be able to check the md5checksum from a terminal with md5sum /location/of/the/navigatrix.iso <enter>

That is the first step.

If it matches; remake the USB with the ISO; switching to another stick if necessary. If it doesn't match, the file was corrupted during download and cannot be salvaged.

48 hours to download the ISO works out to be an average of 12.54kB/s. It's a good speed for a backwater locale; it's not blistering speed, but not really bandwidth busting either.

Yes, it is a large file. This is one of the reasons Make A Copy For A Friend function is prominently placed on the Desktop. You are able to provide a service for your fellow sailors. If some continue to give you grief, tell them they could wait until you're finished to download their mandatory security updates and porn....on second thought they wouldn't understand.

Another option is to download via the Torrent network. It won't be faster but has some error checking protocols and can be stopped (paused) during "the morning and evening rush hour traffic" and re-started at slack times. This way everybody is happy.

Is the Asus the 1015 series or the 1215 series? Is this the boat computer?

Yes checksum failed, used download manager with all the download options. Obviously not working anyway. Will try torrent. Any advice on software ?

Computer is the 12series, works great most of the time and is portable in plastic bags. Just want to get rid of Microsoft as their system have some
really bad flaws.

Just for fun (about windows):

1. Tell the system not to install any driver without approval.
2. Tell the system not to create a crash report. Just write a message in the log file.
3. Uninstall the PS2 !! mouse pad driver. Because that driver causes the system to crash sometimes when there is an error in the gps unit.

What happens is :

First it installs the mouse driver without approval. :-(((

System stops as it find something that 'might cause problems' (WOW).

Then create the crash report.

Further after about 500 times it will UNINSTALL your gps driver and the only way to get it back again is to install a two version older one, then one version and finally the driver you need. After a couple of times, ......

In the Windows world a very popular torrent client is µTorrent (utorrent for those who can't find their μυ key.)

It use to be less than 200KB download (hence the name), but now I see it's 5 times that. I've heard they started putting ads on the side to make this freebie pay a little back to the authors.

Second time, the same thing. MD5 checksum not valid.

So, is there a way to ask for a dvd ? to be send of course I will pay !

Seem like the only option, torrent did not work and this download took even longer time.

Or any other solution ?

Rolf....

Send me an email (click on email at the bottom of this msg) with a mailing address
and I will mail you a USB stick (bootable) with the latest Nx distro.

No charge, but make sure you pass it along to others. It will take a bit to get there from the States, but shouldn't be too bad. I can get items from Fiji in 5-7 days.
If you post email today or tomorrow, I will mail Monday.

Of course I will. Many of the sailors in Pago Pago will also send thankful wishes. We are now about 20 yachts here planning for the next cyclone season.
