My GPS (USB) receiver doesn't work with Google Earth in Navigatrix. It does work, however, with OpenCPN & other apps except with OlivSoft (which I didn't find any related docs, BTW)

The first question.

Did you modify anything to get the gps data to show up in OpenCPN?

This influences the course of action for Google Earth and OlivSoft.

Bypassing the gps daemon (gpsd) will cause problems for other applications. If data moves through the gpsd is can be made available for simultaneous access by other applications, even those applications that are not internally configured to listen to the gpsd.
