Everything was fine until I opened the Package Manager, Custom Filters, Upgradable and then executed. There was a ton of upgrades, three came up with an error. Everything seemed ok, I was using a hardwired connection. I then tried to connect to my wifi. There is no wifi in Networking, only direct connections. Help.

Start over. Leave the Package Manager alone. You'll be fine.

Thanks, but I'd prefer not to do that. Navigatrix install doesn't just copy over the previous copy, it wants to create another partition. I was hoping to learn what files need to be reloaded. Everything works just like before, just the WiFi is missing.

You can also reinstall to the old partitions without formating. This way it will keep the old data. You have to choose these settings within the installers advanced options. Make a Backup before.

The problem is there are too many unknown variables.

It is far easier (for everyone) to go back before the system was modified then to figure out how it was modified, did those modification cause the problem, or was it pre-existing, etc...and then fix it,

Re-install and then proceed with deliberation. Navigatrix will install how you want.
